Relationship is at the core of everything! God desires to be in relationship with us despite our issues and mistakes. He sacrificed His only Son so that we could experience the joys of relationship with Him. In our lives, relationships can be some of the hardest challenges we face, and yet, they can provide some of our greatest moments of joy! Therapy is a place where you can show up and know that there is someone who desires to be in relationship with you as you are. We can heal. We can explore. We can rest. We can build a level of trust that makes room for our weaknesses and vulnerabilities so that God can transform our most painful moments into valuable assets on the road to our God-given purpose!
In my journey to becoming a counselor, it was not until after I graduated from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) that I realized that I did not want to become a doctor like I had always dreamed. I was looking back at the time I spent with my brother as he battled with addiction. The pain I felt when he passed away was indescribable. I was heartbroken, and I had never felt so helpless. However, in the midst of that pain, I remembered feeling the most fulfilled when he felt safe enough to open up about some of the deep things he was experiencing. He, like many of us at some point, felt like he was alone and stuck in a hole. God opened my eyes to the impact of sitting with someone in the hole, or emotion, even if they aren’t ready to get out of the hole quite yet. Even if it does not end the way you thought it would, there is a bigger purpose to our pain. So, we can count it all joy, as James 1:2 reads, knowing that God does not waste our pain but uses it to move us closer to our purpose!
To my future clients, my hope is for you to feel my desire to be in relationship with you as you are. I want to learn about your hobbies and pet peeves, your strengths and weaknesses, and your dreams and disappointments. In turn, you will learn about some of mine with the ultimate goal of building genuine relationship that moves mountains by the power of the Holy Spirit! Therapy doesn’t stop with the relationship but is just the beginning. It is the foundation, or the roots, that allow you to navigate creatively through the many stages and techniques that come with quality therapy! I look forward to walking alongside you!

MyCounselor has as its aim to be the gold standard in faith-based mental health. Our counselors are required to have undergraduate studies in theology, practical ministry, or psychology and have completed a graduate (master’s) degree in mental health (professional counseling, clinical social work, marriage & family therapy, etc.).
After submitting an application package that includes transcripts, references, and video responses to a structured interview, qualified candidates are invited into a multi-stage interview process. During the process candidates will meet with clinical supervisors, perform a mock therapy session, and participate in a training with the MyCounselor clinical team. If advanced from the final interview with the Director of Clinical Services, candidates are offered a position on the clinical team and matriculated into the MyCounselor residency.
During residency counselors complete multiple rotations of clinical training and experience with specific populations, including individuals, couples, families, and teens. Specifically, residents are trained in the MyCounselor proprietary model of care: Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC) as applied in practice with various presenting issues.
The thorough training our counselors receive in a broad array of specialized rotations equips them to address counseling concerns ranging from the common to the complex.
