Christian counseling for Trauma & PTSD

The danger has passed.
Your body just hasn’t gotten the message yet.

Flashbacks, numbness, always being on guard — these aren’t weakness or a lack of faith.
They’re a nervous system that learned to survive something and hasn’t yet learned it’s safe. Our Christ-centered, neuroscience-informed counselors help your body find safe ground again — at a pace you set.

what happened to you matters

You survived it. So why does your body still act like it’s happening?

When something overwhelms us, the brain can store it not as a memory that’s over, but as a threat that’s ongoing. So your body keeps responding to a danger that has already passed — bracing, flinching, shutting down. None of that is a character flaw or a sign of weak faith. It’s a survival system doing exactly what it was built to do, just stuck in the “on” position. And it can be helped.

The Intrusions

Memories, images, or dreams that arrive uninvited and pull you back, as if it’s happening all over again right now.

The Bracing

Always scanning, on guard, easily startled. Rest doesn’t come easily, and part of you never fully stands down.

The Distance

Going numb, feeling far away or cut off — from people, from your own emotions, from the life that’s right in front of you.

Free, private check-in

How much is your body
still carrying?

A short, private reflection — seven gentle questions, about two minutes. It won’t ask you to describe anything that happened. Nothing you enter is saved or sent. If any question feels like too much, it’s completely okay to stop.

Trauma Check-In

Why our approach works

We help your body learn it’s safe,
at a pace you set.

Trauma lives in the body, not just the memory, which is why “just talk it out” can sometimes make things worse. Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC) begins with safety and steadiness, lets the body lead, and never rushes you back into what hurt — because healing happens in safety, not in re-living.

01

Safety & Steadiness First

We don’t dive into the worst before your body can hold it. We build a foundation of calm and control first — so nothing overwhelms you.

02

Let the body lead, gently

Because trauma is held in the body, healing engages it directly and slowly. Your nervous system can re-learn safety, one small, tolerable step at a time.

03

carry it together, with Christ

You don’t process it alone. Healing is relational and spiritual — anchored by the God who keeps your tears, whose risen Son still bears His scars.

FAQ

Have Questions? We've got answers.

No — not before you’re ready, and never more than you choose. Good trauma care builds safety and steadiness first, and only approaches the hard material when your body can handle it, in small, tolerable steps. You stay in control of the pace the whole way.
Yes. Trauma isn’t about how long ago something happened; it’s about whether your nervous system ever got to finish processing it. Reactions can surface months or years later. That’s not you being dramatic or weak — it’s how the system works, and it responds well to the right care.
It means your counselor understands how trauma lives in the body and is trained to work with it safely — prioritizing your sense of safety and choice, watching your pace, and using approaches designed for trauma rather than just talking about it. Healing happens in safety, not by force.
No. You’ll be believed and met with compassion. What happened to you was not your fault, and your counselor’s job is to walk with you toward healing — never to question whether your pain is real.
Yes. Every counselor is trained in our Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® model and shares a common statement of faith — clinically skilled trauma care, built on what you believe.

We’re intentionally out-of-network so we can offer the depth of care insurance often limits. You can use HSA/FSA funds, and we’ll provide paperwork if you’d like to seek out-of- network reimbursement from your plan.

Your body can learn safety again. You don’t have to get there alone.

Let’s start your healing together.
