A Note From Robbin

Oftentimes relationships lack certain foundations that are necessary to develop, grow, and thrive in a healthy manner. Coupled with personal struggles, such as stress, anxiety, or depression, relationships can become seemingly hard and unattainable. My aim in the counseling relationship is to offer hope amid challenging times with those whose goal is to either build and create a solid foundation in relationship from the ground up, or to strengthen and reconcile those marriages or other important relationships that may have experienced hardships or obstacles along the way. I specialize in working with individuals and couples to help them overcome personal struggles that might arise due to infidelity, past hurts, anxieties, or life stressors; while helping to equip them with the necessary tools that will allow them to interact with others in a more positive, healthier way.

My specialty is helping individuals, couples, and families to build a solid foundation in their relationships by addressing the challenges that may hinder trust, forgiveness, and other healing attributes or key elements from entering into the relationship, so that can effective nurturing and growth can take place.

With a combined 25 years experience as a mother, advocate, ministry leader, educator and wife of 10 years, I have been afforded the opportunity to learn what is important when creating healthy relationships. Positive experiences coupled with challenges and hardships has helped me to tap more into, not only my own narrative, but to work hard at seeking to better understand the needs of others. The many seasons in my life have helped to shape me into who I am; as I’ve allowed myself to not only grow, but to be a witness and share my testimony of hope to those whose paths I cross.

Counselor Competency

MyCounselor has as its aim to be the gold standard in faith-based mental health. Our counselors are required to have undergraduate studies in theology, practical ministry, or psychology and have completed a graduate (master’s) degree in mental health (professional counseling, clinical social work, marriage & family therapy, etc.).

  • We only hire around 2% of applicants
  • Require at least a Master’s Degree in Mental Health
  • 2-Year Post-Graduate Residency in Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC)
  • 400+ hours of Continuing Education each year

After submitting an application package that includes transcripts, references, and video responses to a structured interview, qualified candidates are invited into a multi-stage interview process. During the process candidates will meet with clinical supervisors, perform a mock therapy session, and participate in a training with the MyCounselor clinical team. If advanced from the final interview with the Director of Clinical Services, candidates are offered a position on the clinical team and matriculated into the MyCounselor residency.

During residency counselors complete multiple rotations of clinical training and experience with specific populations, including individuals, couples, families, and teens. Specifically, residents are trained in the MyCounselor proprietary model of care: Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC) as applied in practice with various presenting issues.

The thorough training our counselors receive in a broad array of specialized rotations equips them to address counseling concerns ranging from the common to the complex.
