People are so complex and interesting. I am always trying to learn something new about them, so I have put some time into understanding and studying the Enneagram. It has taught me about different motivations, how to get certain needs met, variety of communication styles, etc. This type of studying has helped me when I reach out to clients, it allows me to understand them just a little bit better.
I have a strong passion for people struggling with depression, anxiety, who have experienced trauma, or simply need someone to see their worth and reminds them. I want to walk with people who are in darkness and help them find The Light, because I know how scary it can be to feel alone in the dark.
My experience over the years has been with children and teens that experienced complex trauma, and their support systems (foster/adoptive families) who love them. My focus with these types of clients is on building attachment or teaching emotional identification/regulation. I like to support them whenever I get the chance as they heal from trauma through safe relationships.
I also get to work with couples that have experienced many struggles during their marriage. Struggles that range from miscommunication to infidelity, and other that are dealing with sex issues or other desires. Sometimes I get to work with couples that are in the early stages of their relationship or are getting ready to enter marriage.
Depression and anxiety are common themes and I continually strive to work on my own personal healing as well, so that you truly understand you are not alone in this crazy marathon of life.

MyCounselor has as its aim to be the gold standard in faith-based mental health. Our counselors are required to have undergraduate studies in theology, practical ministry, or psychology and have completed a graduate (master’s) degree in mental health (professional counseling, clinical social work, marriage & family therapy, etc.).
After submitting an application package that includes transcripts, references, and video responses to a structured interview, qualified candidates are invited into a multi-stage interview process. During the process candidates will meet with clinical supervisors, perform a mock therapy session, and participate in a training with the MyCounselor clinical team. If advanced from the final interview with the Director of Clinical Services, candidates are offered a position on the clinical team and matriculated into the MyCounselor residency.
During residency counselors complete multiple rotations of clinical training and experience with specific populations, including individuals, couples, families, and teens. Specifically, residents are trained in the MyCounselor proprietary model of care: Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC) as applied in practice with various presenting issues.
The thorough training our counselors receive in a broad array of specialized rotations equips them to address counseling concerns ranging from the common to the complex.
