An 8-Day Online Externship

Core Skills Training comprises four two-day workshops focusing on the Core Skills of each of the EFT steps. This is a training on Core Skills with C4c emphasis. It is the same ICEEFT Core Skills training but with an added faith emphasis. The training will contain instruction and experiential practice of EFT skills and interventions according to the ICEEFT guidelines. A maximum of 16 participants are permitted in each group so early registration is encouraged!

This externship offers a unique opportunity to incorporate key insights from Dr. Sue Johnson and Kenny Sanderfer’s recent book Created for Connection, a hands-on resource designed for Christian Couples.

The Externship is approved by the International Center of Excellence for Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and will contain instruction and experiential practice of EFT skills and interventions according to the ICEEFT guidelines.

What is the Schedule?

Core Skills training comprises four two-day workshops focusing on the core skills of each of the EFT steps. The training will take place over 4 weekends, with a schedule of Thursday & Friday from 9am – 4pm (CDT).  There will be a 10 minute break every hour. Lunch break will be at approximately 12pm – 1pm.

Who should attend?

The externship is recommended to all professionals who counsel couples, including psychiatrists, psychologists, family physicians, social workers, psychiatric nurses, counselors, pastors and clergy, and students training in these professions.

The training will contain instruction and experiential practice of EFT skills and interventions according to the ICEEFT guidelines. A maximum of 16 participants are permitted in each group so early registration is encouraged!

Participants Learn To…

See marital distress from an attachment perspective, help partners reprocess the emotional responses that maintain marital distress, shape key new interaction and bonding events, and overcome therapeutic impasses. Participants are strongly encouraged to read the 2004 book on EFT – Creating Connections, before coming to the externship.

The Presenters

Kenneth Sanderfer, LMFT

Certified EFT Therapist, Supervisor & Trainer  AAMFT Approved Supervisor

As a Certified EFT Trainer, Kenny educates and trains EFT Therapists across several states. He is the founder and director of EFT Tennessee, Nashville’s center for training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. He provides EFT supervision for therapists pursuing EFT certification. As a Certified EFT Therapist, he provides intensive two-day couples therapy in Murfreesboro, TN. He recently co-authored a book with Dr. Sue Johnson, Created for Connection: The Hold Me Tight Guide for Christian Couples .

Kenny completed his undergraduate degree in Agriculture from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. He completed his Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN, where he is now an Adjunct Professor. He is licensed by the state of Tennessee in Marital and Family Therapy (license #564) and is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. When he is away from work you will find him fly fishing, training horses, ranching and spending time with his wife, Suzette and their five grand children.

Teri Murphy, PhD, LMFT

Certified EFT Therapist, Supervisor, Trainer in training in eft,  AAMFT Approved Supervisor

Teri Murphy, PhD, LMFT is a licensed marital and family therapist in private practice in Franklin, Tennessee. Teri is a Certified Therapist, Supervisor, and Trainer-in-Training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. She also supervises clinicians toward state licensure as an AAMFT-approved supervisor.

A former bona fide rocket scientist, Teri shifted from creating future space systems to helping couples, individuals, and families in therapy create secure attachment with God, themselves, and their most important relationships.

Teri has written articles for The Tennessean, Bedlam Magazine, and Venn Magazine, presents at professional conferences, and coaches mental health professionals in their group and private practices.

While away from the office, you’ll find Teri reading, practicing yoga, gardening, and spending time with her partner, Chris, and two teen children.
