A Note From Summer

I truly believe that no matter where you are in life or where you want to go, there is hope for change, healing, and growth. I believe that life is meant to be lived abundantly because that’s exactly what Jesus says in John 10:10. However, in this life, we face changes, transitions, major life events, internal and external struggles, celebratory times and grief. These times can leave us feeling alone, lost, and confused. I don’t believe we are meant to do this life alone, and my hope is that I can come alongside you in your journey to help you navigate life and its challenges.

As a military wife and mom to three, I know how stressful life can get with transitions and balancing all the things that are thrown our way. I am passionate about helping others find balance, healing, relationship restoration, freedom from mental health struggles, and developing the skills we need to thrive! Part of my counseling career was spent in Addiction Counseling and that will always have a special place in my heart. Since we are a military family, I have moved around a lot and have had the opportunity to work with many mental health issues including addiction, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and child/family relationships. I have a heart to work with anyone who is willing to put in the work- change isn’t easy but it’s possible!

My desire is to create a space that feels safe and comfortable for you to be your authentic self; to allow me to go with you to those deep and dark places that often feel too scary to go in alone. As I have utilized therapy in my own life and as I have worked to hone in my own practice, I prioritize being real and open with my clients from the very beginning so that it doesn’t feel like you are interacting with a complete stranger. I love meeting clients exactly where they are at, and providing them with the practical skills they need to meet their goals.

I just want to acknowledge and honor the courage it takes to seek help, I want to encourage you to have faith and hope in the process of healing, and I want you to know that on the other side of this process, you can find your true identity in Christ and walk the path He has for you!

Counselor Competency

MyCounselor has as its aim to be the gold standard in faith-based mental health. Our counselors are required to have undergraduate studies in theology, practical ministry, or psychology and have completed a graduate (master’s) degree in mental health (professional counseling, clinical social work, marriage & family therapy, etc.).

  • We only hire around 2% of applicants
  • Require at least a Master’s Degree in Mental Health
  • 2-Year Post-Graduate Residency in Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC)
  • 400+ hours of Continuing Education each year

After submitting an application package that includes transcripts, references, and video responses to a structured interview, qualified candidates are invited into a multi-stage interview process. During the process candidates will meet with clinical supervisors, perform a mock therapy session, and participate in a training with the MyCounselor clinical team. If advanced from the final interview with the Director of Clinical Services, candidates are offered a position on the clinical team and matriculated into the MyCounselor residency.

During residency counselors complete multiple rotations of clinical training and experience with specific populations, including individuals, couples, families, and teens. Specifically, residents are trained in the MyCounselor proprietary model of care: Neuroscience Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC) as applied in practice with various presenting issues.

The thorough training our counselors receive in a broad array of specialized rotations equips them to address counseling concerns ranging from the common to the complex.

At the urging of those closest to me, I agreed that I needed counseling. A trusted family member encouraged me to check out MyCounselor.online, and I’m so very glad and grateful that I did.
