I believe God created us for connection and wired us for intimacy in relationships. Oftentimes, we find ourselves feeling distant from those we love, who love us, and even ourselves. My hope is to come alongside and walk with you towards reconnecting with God, yourself, and others. It would be an honor for me to join you in your journey towards healing and wholeness. My ultimate goal for the counseling process is help you know how much you are loved by the Father and experience the fullness that comes with this knowledge.
It takes a lot of courage to begin this journey. I truly believe scheduling and showing up for the first appointment is the most challenging step in this process. If you are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, or foster care/adoption issues, I would love to join you at this decisive moment of your life to help you experience the healing, fullness, and hope that is possible.
“As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.” Micah 7:7-8 NLT
Much (not all) of the time the challenges we deal with are the fruit of a deeper issue (trauma). I have experienced my own traumas and have been foster dad to over 100 kids in the foster care system so I have seen first hand how damaging and pervasive trauma’s effects are. Being aware of this, I sought out training in several trauma treatment models, including: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, and Progressive Counting. I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help navigate couples and individuals towards healing in their relationships.
About me: I spent over 10 years in the military (Air Force), my wife and I were house parents at a residential group home for kids in foster care for a over 5 years, and I worked as a youth minister for 2 years. These experiences were rich and the people I met along the way have shaped who I am and blessed me beyond measure. My wife and I have 4 kiddos (19, 9, 7, 3), one grandson (1), and a giant South African Mastiff named Bruce. I love basketball and as a family we enjoying hiking/camping, boardgames, and watching movies. We also love spending time with friends and family as much as we can.
