Anxiety in Women
Did you know women experience anxiety more often than men? You may feel pressure to be the “perfect” employee, wife, mother and friend. This drive for perfection may lead to persistent feelings of worry and fear. Our counselors will work with you to overcome these negative symptoms and enjoy a healthier, more balanced life.
Eating disorders and anxiety go hand and hand. We have anxiety about our body, food, the future, the present, our relationships, and countless other things outside of our control.
We get it. You just want to be healthy – but something about the thoughts in your head and the things that you do don’t seem completely healthy, to you or those who love you.
Whether you know you have an eating disorder, or are afraid you might – we can help.
The room is closing in, your heart is pounding, you break into a sweat, you can’t breath and you are certain every one is staring at you wondering “What’s wrong with them?”
You think you’re having a heart attack, but your having a panic attack. Or you’re imagining having a panic attack and you are paralyzed with fear. They say it’s “all in your head”, but it is controlling your life.
We’ll help you identify the source of your anxiety and learn how to manage it in a way that lets you enjoy a full and happy life.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Are you a little up tight? Does your need for control and perfectionist tendencies get in the way of your relationships? Or do you find yourself consumed with intrusive thoughts that you wish would go away?
We can teach you skills for managing your anxiety and intrusive thoughts that will help. If necessary we can refer you to a doctor for medication evaluation. Together we can figure out how to keep this part of your experience from dominating your life.
Social anxiety disorder can create difficulties with interpersonal interactions in various social settings. You may feel self-conscious or like other people are judging you.
Together we’ll go over the specific types of social situations that cause you the most discomfort, along with helpful things you can do to reduce your feelings of stress when communicating with others.
Therapy for social anxiety may help you feel more confident when communicating with family members, friends, colleagues at work and other people you come into contact with every day.
Questions and concerns about sexual identity can cause an awful lot of anxiety. We use the Sexual Identity Therapy framework to work through with you the complex issues surrounding same-sex attraction and gender dysphoria.
We will be a safe place for you to process your experience, gain understanding about yourself, ask the tough questions, make decisions, figure out what you want to do and how to go about doing it.
We are here for you.
